PALAZZO VECCHIO IN FLORENCE
Palazzo Vecchio in Florence is one of the best known civic buildings in Italy and, perhaps, in the world. It is also one of the best examples of 14th-century Florentine civic architecture
and it dominates the Piazza della Signoria. The museum inside the Palazzo is popular with visitors
as it contains works by Michelangelo and Donatello among others.
Palazzo Vecchio is one of Florence’s architectonic gems and, like the other important monuments in the city, is
just a short walk from Via della Scala and the Hotel Palazzo dal Borgo.
Once you get to Palazzo Vecchio you start off on an exciting journey into the history and art of Florence, starting with the Michelozzo Courtyard, with its stucco work and frescoes,
then moving on to the Salone dei Cinquecento which celebrates the maximum splendor
of Cosimo de’ Medici’s court, to then discover the private rooms of the Medici court and stroll along the
city’s streets: Via nelle sale dell’Udienza, dei Gigli, delle Carte Geografiche
and the Mezzanino district with its admirable collection of Medieval and Renaissance
paintings and sculptures.
A visit to Palazzo Vecchio fills the eyes and the heart with its inestimable beauty, and to stay in a building
with its own amazing history, like the Hotel Palazzo del Borgo, contributes to making it a truly unforgettable experience.
